Come join me in my visits to 7 churches in observance of the Holy Week in the Philippines. The Visita Iglesia is one of the many traditions the Filipinos follow during the Lenten season in the country.
This is a video showing you my actual Visita Iglesia along with live photos of people from all walks of life going in and out of these churches.
Packed all my essentials (fan, hanky, cologne, powder, coin purse, face powder, mobile phone, and my prayer booklet), took a long shower, and went on a small journey in observance of the Holy Week.
I decided to add old churches this year and planned my route/itinerary according to their location (from the farthest to the nearest church). And, of course, researched my routes in the most affordable way possible (considering the LRT and MRT stations were all closed) — jeepney rides!
Here are my seven stops:
1 – The Manila Cathedral (Intramuros, Manila)
2 – San Agustin Church (Intramuros, Manila)
3 – Malate Church (Manila)
4 – Baclaran Church (Pasay)
5 – San Ildefonso Parish (Makati)
6 – Greenbelt Chapel (Makati)
7 – Don Bosco Parish (Makati)
Visited but were closed:
8 – St. Alphonsus Mary de Liguori Parish (Magallanes)
9 – Santuario de San Antonio Parish (Forbes Park)
“Take a look!”
